The akronym CELTIC stands for a metapopulation concept for lynx populations of Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland.

An international group of experts from these countries are elaborating models to connect lynx populations and defragment wildlife habitats to secure long-term survival of this big cat in a cultural landscape.

Road building, habitat loss and illegal killing are the main threats to lynx populations in middle Europe. These problems have to be addressed to be successful in connecting the lynx populations of the Bohemian-Carpathian highlands.
